FCI employees today observed one-day token strike to press their demands, including pension benefits.
In the next phase of agitation the employees would observe two days country-wide strike on June 9 and 10 followed by indefinite strike on June 29, Bhartiya Khadya Nigam Karamchari Sangh said in a statement.
Wheat procurement and its distribution is badly affected but unfortunately the management is grossly immune to the situation. However, in case the demands are not resolved immediately, the position would further be worsened and can come to the stand still, the FCI employees union said.
The union said it has been demanding for appointing the dependents of deceased employees, pension to retired, regularise the casual employees working for more than last 20 years, scientific storage norms, additional sanction of staff for increased storage capacities among others.
In case the demands are not settled immediately the union will go ahead with the programme of agitations already notified, it said.
