Appeal to AF Veterans - Brig R Vinayak

A humble request to all Armed Forces Veterans. One of the basic tenets of camaraderie is 'all for one' and 'one for all'. Then why do we have different camps using the banner of UNITED FRONT OF EX-SERVICEMEN, working with the same aim of getting OROP sanctioned by Government of India as approved by the Parliament and promised by PM Modi in his election campaigns. However, the two UFESM as it appears are dead against and slandering at each other no holds bar.

OROP is the right of each and every Armed Forces veteran across party lines and individual biases.
All veteran organisations had come together under one umbrella organisation UFESM and all was going fine till 5 Sep '15 the day OROP announcement was made by RM.

Thereafter, ESM organisations seem to have parted ways. one group continued with agitation path and while others did not. This divide is definitely not in the interest of 30 lacs pensioners and family pensioners. Agitation or negotiations should have had the consensus of majority rather than singular group calling the shots based on show of hands at JM or responses to dictums given on social media which reached majority veterans through forwarded messages reaching recipients passing through second, third and multiple hands.

The group at JM conducted rallies in different state capitals addressing Veterans on OROP. However, giving stage to Ram Jethmalani at Patna rally gave a political tinge to OROP movement. Politicisation of OROP has not been liked by majority of the veterans including rank and file. Even local public and media have not appreciated this move with their opinion turning adverse to Armed Forces veterans. This can have a negative impact on the intake into Armed Forces and serving fraternity.

In the meantime Government consulted veteran organisations like IESL, ABPSSP to discuss OROP issues and not the other group at JM. What has been gathered that a group of ESM organisations have come together and registered an umbrella organisation viz UNITED FRONT OF EX-SERVICEMEN and had a meeting on 5 Nov. '15 appealing to all ESM organisations to come together to tackle contentious OROP issues and other ESM related issues.

The opposing ESM sides have also indulged in viscous and slanderous attacks on each other blaming and abusing one and other on social media.

Dispassionately looking at it both sides are to blame for the impasse and animosity. When Lalu and Nitish can come together to fight against and contend with Modi led NDA dispensation  and come out victorious, I see no reason why the group at JM and newly formed UFESM can not put their egos and differences aside and come on a common platform to resolve and settle contentious points that remains to be settled.

In my opinion, OROP issues can only be resolved by negotiating with the Government / Judicial Commission across the table to justify our contention point by point with authentic facts and figures in a dignified manner. Moreover, Government is not likely to invite and discuss anything with agitating veteran representatives. Instead they will sort out issues with other ESM functionaries.
Therefore the need of the hour is for all ESM organisations big or small to unconditionally come together and work as one entity. In the heart of hearts, I am confident that majority Veterans would feel the same.

Regards,

Brig R Vinayak, VSM (Retd.)

Padaiveerar Paasarai - Lt Col CR Sundar

We last met at Chepauk, Chennai, in September 2015 to conduct the most successful Veterans’ Protest for OROP in the State.

While this is intended as a thank you note for your earnest enthusiasm and dedication to the cause of ESM it is also a call for greater sacrifices for the same purpose. Needless to say that we will find our next event as satisfying and uplifting as did the Chepauk meeting.

As you are aware Maj Gen Satbir Singh, SM is the undisputed leader of veterans of armed forces who has been relentlessly leading the actions demanding OROP for the last nine years. A large number of veterans of Southern States wanted that Gen Satbir should be requested to guide us. Therefore I made bold to invite him.

He has most kindly and graciously accepted our invitation and has given us a date, Sunday, 29 November 2015, when he will be with us.

He will be accompanied by Gp Capt VK Gandhi, the General Secretary of IESM and Lt Col Balbir Singh Parmar, the Founder National President of Sainik Samaj Party.

It is imperative that we should make the visit a resounding success. With that in mind we will soon be getting together to discuss and decide responsibilities.

Meanwhile I request you to give the event the widest possible publicity to your friends in all the States of South India through email, whatsapp, Facebook, twitter, linkedin, blogs and every method possible including articles in the print media and appearances on radio and TV.

Military Veterans Assaulted

Invitation for Candle March : 23 Aug 2015

Cry India cry — Military Veterans Assaulted

The assault on military veterans, at Jantar Mantar on August 14, might go down in Indian history as the lowest point of the humiliation suffered by those who defended the honour of their mother land at the peril of their lives. Even the brutal English Empire never dared to do so. Every patriot’s heart is filled with sorrow and anger, that independent India’s freely-elected government could stoop so low as to unleash its agents of terror against its own military veterans. Veterans, who had gathered in a peaceful and legally-sanctioned protest for a cause that cannot possibly be more legitimate.
The 14th August 2015 incidents around Jantar Mantar that saw the khaki thugs of the Delhi Police beat up and manhandle our military veterans as old as 83 years, even going to the extent of attempting to take off the gallantry medals of one of the warriors, will be etched in the minds and the collective psyche of the Indian people simply because of its wretchedness and perversity. No doubt, that this was a crime and a blunder rolled into one.
It is the moral duty of each country man to ensure this kind of senseless act is not performed by any one in future for all times to come.
Therefore, we the ex Servicemen of the country request rest of the countrymen to join in a Candle March from Jantar Mantar to India Gate to condemn the attack. The time is 5 PM on 23 Aug 2015. All countrymen are requested to join in, irrespective of cast, creed, religion, political affiliation etc.

The Politics of Subsidy

NEWS AND VIEWS : SAINIK SAMAJ PARTY (NWCR)

1. Media is agog with the news of subsidy in Parliament Canteen. I first had my lunch in either Dec1977 or Jan 78. We were told that it is very cheap. Indeed it was cheap. Subsidy in this canteen probably existed even prior to independence. Someone needs to dig out the history.

2. Should there be subsidy in parliament Canteen? The party don't think so. It must go. But more important than parliamentary Canteen is the subsidy given to Media Houses for running their print media or electronic TV channels. This subsidy is given is given to these Media eateries /companies an individuals in terms of News Print paper rolls, and all equipment required for running the channels including cameras broadcasting equipment and every bit of it.

3. Sainik Samaj Party demands that this subsidy to all media enterprises should be stopped forthwith since it is erroneously called fourth pillar and given huge subsidy.
4. Please share the post if you agree with the idea of withdrawing the subsidy to Media Houses since they have lost their trustworthiness and Social Media in any case has taken the role of public informer and educating agent.

OROP Protest - Sainik Samaj Party

OROP PROTEST TAMILNADU – REPORT DT 05 JUL 2015
Lt Col CR Sundar, President Tamil Nadu Sainik Samaj Party
Protest at Ranipet – 05 Jul 2015
Excellent arrangements were made for the protest opposite the Ranipet Thasiladar’s office by ESM S Nagaraj, President Sainik Samaj Party (SSP), Ranipet MLA constituency, ESM NM Sekar, Vice President, ESM M Gajendran, Secretary and ESM D Bhaskaran, Deputy Secretary.
Party flag was raised at the location.
Sloganeering was done in which those present joined in energetically. Slogans were raised against  Modi for having failed to keep his promise and also against the central and state governments for not having shown due consideration for the plight of the Veterans.
Arrangements were made for 200 attendees but only about 60 including ladies turned up. The reason could be because Ranipet does not have a good strength of ESM. Those expected from surrounding areas did not come probably because of fatigue having set in due to too many protests within a short period.
A few snaps are attached below.
