कलेकडे झुकलेली मराठी भाषा अधिक समृद्ध आहे. - दीपक करंजीकर

मुंबई : (रवींद्र मालुसरे ) - शास्त्राशी जोडलेलया भाषा आणि कलेशी जोडलेलया भाषा यामध्ये मराठी ही भाषा संपूर्णपणे कलेकडे  झुकते. ४८ वर्ण, व्यंजने, त्यातले स्वर, उच्चराधित शब्द त्यातून तयार होणारी बोली यातून तयार होणारे पर्यावरण मराठी भाषेशिवाय कुठेही नाही. त्यामुळे मराठीला मी बेलबुट्टीची भाषा समजतो. भारतावर ७०० वर्षात अनेक आक्रमणे होऊनही हा देश स्वतःची संस्कृती जपत सर्वाना सामावून घेऊन उभा आहे. तसेच मराठीचे झाले आहे.  आपली भाषा ही विस्तृत झाली आहे. मराठीतले अनेक शब्द इंग्रजीमध्ये प्रमाण म्हणून गेले आहेत. त्यामुळे मराठीच्या भविष्याबद्दलचा न्यूनगंड काढून टाका अहंगंड बाळगायला हरकत नाही मात्र आहे तो गंड बाळगायला हरकत नाही. सुंदरतेची आस असणारी महत्वाची देशातली भाषा म्हणजे मराठी भाषा आहे.भाषा हा आपल्या जगण्याचा अपरिहार्य भाग  आहे असे मला वाटते. असे प्रतिपादन विख्यात लेखक, अभिनेते आणि सुजाण विचारवंत दीपक करंजीकर यांनी व्यक्त केले. दादर सार्वजनिक वाचनालय आणि धुरू हॉल ट्रस्टस, मराठी वृत्तपत्र लेखक संघ मुंबई आणि मराठी विचारधारा प्रतिष्ठान यांच्या वतीने आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या मराठी भाषा गौरव दिनाच्या कार्यक्रम दादर येथे आयोजित करण्यात आला होता. ते पुढे असेही म्हणाले की,  जगात १० कोटी लोकांकडून बोलली जाणारी मराठी ही १० व्या क्रमांकाची भाषा आहे. भाषा दोन प्रकारे व्यक्त होते एक भाषेत पुस्तकं छापली जातात आणि ती बोलली जाते. आपली मराठी भाषा  १३२ देशांमध्ये पोहोचली आहे. दरवर्षी ५०० दिवाळी अंक आणि २००० पुस्तके निघतात आणि देशातल्या अनेक भाषांमध्ये काहींची भाषांतरे होतात. प्रत्येक क्षेत्रांत मराठी माणसाने जे काम केले आहे ते माईलस्टोन ठरले आहे. जी.  ए. कुलकर्णी यांच्यापेक्षा जगात कुणी मोठे नाही. शेक्सिपयरपेक्षा कानेटकरांच्या नाटकांचे विषय पाहिले तर त्यांचा पट मोठा आहे.

साहित्यप्रेमी आणि ज्येष्ठ स्तंभलेखक रविप्रकाश कुलकर्णी आपल्या भाषणात म्हणाले की, दिवाळी अंकांची कल्पना महाराष्ट्रातील काशिनाथ रघुनाथ मित्र यांना सुचली ती बंगालच्या दुर्गापूजा अंकामुळे असे अनेक जण आजही बोलताना व लिहिताना दिसतात , परंतु हे चूक आहे हे आता  सिद्ध झालेले आहे, तरीसुद्धा ही चूक दुरुस्त करण्याची तसदी आपले लोक का घेत नाहीत ही गोष्ट बंगाली आणि इंग्रजी दैनिकांतून ठसठशीतपणे यायला हवी. दिवाळीचा सण दिवाळी अंकांशिवाय पूर्णच होऊ शकत नाही. मराठी संस्कृतीत अढळ स्थान लाभलेल्या या दिवाळी अंकांच्या वैभवशाली परंपरेचा आढावा घेताना ते पुढे म्हणाले की,  ‘दिवाळी-दसरा सण मोठा, नाही आनंदा तोटा’ या उक्तींमधील आनंद दिवाळी साजरा करण्यातील अनेक गोष्टींइतकाच दिवाळी अंक हा त्याचा अविभाज्य भाग बनला आहे. त्यामुळे दिवाळीचा आनंद द्विगुणित होतो.  गेली ११४ वर्षे मराठी साहित्याचा हा जागर अखंड होत आहे. तो वृद्धिंगत करतांना मराठी वृत्तपत्र लेखक संघाचाही खारीचा वाटा आहे. हे सातत्य इतर भाषांमध्ये फारसे घडताना दिसत नाही. दिवाळी अंकांनी मराठी साहित्यातील विविध प्रकार हाताळले असून, त्यातून अनेक लेखक-साहित्यिक नावारूपास आले आहेत.

मुख्यमंत्री वैद्यकीय सहाय्यता कक्षप्रमुख आणि विशेष कार्यअधिकारी मंगेश चिवटे यांना यावेळी संस्थेचे सन्माननीय सभासदत्व प्रदान करण्यात आले. चिवटे यांनी महाराष्ट्रातील  गोरगरिबांच्यासह सर्वांसाठी मुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे यांच्या कल्पनेतून आरोग्य कक्षाच्या माध्यमातून किती प्रमाणात आर्थिक मदत आणि  सर्वोतोपरी सहकार्य केले जाते याचा समग्र आढावा आपल्या भाषणात घेतला. त्याचप्रमाणे मराठी वृत्तपत्र लेखक संघाच्या अमृतमहोत्सवी वर्षानिमित्त त्यांचे आजोबा स्वातंत्र्यसेनानी आणि पत्रमहर्षी मनोहरपंत चिवटे यांच्या स्मरणार्थ दिवाळी अंकांच्या पुरस्कारासाठी ७५ हजार रुपयांची देणगी दिली. त्याचबरोबर संस्थेच्या जागेच्या अडचणींचा प्रश्न कायमस्वरूपी सोडविण्याचा प्रयत्न करणार असल्याचे आश्वासन दिले. विख्यात शल्य चिकित्सक डॉ प्रणय पाठारे यांनी बालमोहनमध्ये मराठी भाषेत शिक्षण घेतल्यानंतर डॉक्टरकी करताना ती कसोशीने जपण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो यावेळी अनुभवाला येणाऱ्या गमती जमती त्यांनी आपल्या खूखूशीत भाषणात सांगीतल्या. संघाध्यक्ष रवींद्र मालुसरे यांनी प्रास्ताविक केले.  गेली ४९ वर्षे दिवाळी अंक प्रदर्शन आणि स्पर्धेची परंपरा संस्थेच्या अडचणीच्या काळात कशी पार पाडली जात आहे याच्यासह संस्थेच्या आणि भविष्यातील कार्याचा समग्र आढावा त्यांनी आपल्या प्रास्ताविक भाषणात घेतला.

 यावेळी व्यासपीठावर दादर सार्वजनिक वाचनालयाच्या प्रमुख कार्यवाह श्रीमती शुभा द कामथे, मराठी विचारधारा प्रतिष्ठानचे विश्वस्त ऍड. देवदत्त लाड, कार्याध्यक्ष रमेश सांगळे, कोषाध्यक्ष आत्माराम गायकवाड उपस्थित होते.  'ग्रंथ तुमच्या दारी' या उपक्रमाचे जनक नाशिकचे  विनायक रानडे यांना ग्रंथालय चळवळीतील दिवंगत ज्येष्ठ कार्यकर्ते "स्व. दत्ता कामथे स्मृती ग्रंथसखा' पुरस्कार प्रदान करण्यात आला.

अवतरण सकाळ (मुंबई ) साठी मनोरंजनकार' का र मित्र स्मृती सर्वोत्कृष्ट अंकाचा पुरस्कार ज्येष्ठ वृत्तसंपादक जयवंत चव्हाण आणि  मराठी विचारधारा प्रतिष्ठान पुरस्कृत वसंतराव होशिंग स्मृती महिला संपादित उत्कृष्ट अंक - मनोरमा संपादिका सौ शोभा श्रीकांत मोरे सोलापूर यांनी स्वीकारला.

अक्षर, वेदान्तश्री, सामना, उद्याचा मराठवाडा या संपादकांसह द इनसाइट या अंकाचे  संपादक पत्रकार सचिन परब यांनी तर संस्थेच्या अमृत महोत्सवी वर्षानिमित्त स्व विजया मनोहर कोळस्कर स्मृती अमृतप्रेरणा पुरस्कार काही दिवाळी अंकांना प्रदान करण्यात आला. त्याचबरोबर मराठी विचारधारा प्रतिष्ठान पुरस्कृत ज्येष्ठ कामगार नेते स्व वसंतराव होशिंग स्मृती 'माझ्या बोलीभाषेचे मराठी साहित्य आणि व्यवहारातील स्थान' आणि पार्थ फाउंडेशन पुरस्कृत 'मराठी भाषेची चिंता आणि चिंतन' या विषयावर स्वबोलीभाषेत कुसुमाग्रजांना पत्र या दोन राज्यस्तरीय लेखस्पर्धेचा पारितोषिक वितरण समारंभ झाला. कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन प्रमुख कार्यवाह प्रशांत घाडीगावकर आणि कार्यवाह नितीन कदम यांनी केले. दिगंबर चव्हाण, दत्ताराम गवस, विजय ना कदम, सुनील कुवरे, राजन देसाई, श्रीराम मांडवकर, पंकज पाटील, दिलीप ल सावंत आदी कार्यकर्त्यानी कार्यक्रम यशस्वी करण्यासाठी विशेष मेहनत घेतली.

अक्कलपाडा धरण अर्धेच भरणे किती काळ सुरु ठेवणार?

धुळे जिल्ह्यात राज्याचे उपमुख्यमंत्री तथा अर्थमंत्री  ना. अजित दादा पवार येवून गेले. त्यांनी  अक्कलपाडा धरणाची  माहिती घेतली. या धरणामध्ये शंभर टक्के पाणीसाठा का भरण्यात येत नाही ?  याबाबत माहिती घेतली. यात फक्त साडे चौसष्ठ टक्के पाणी भरले जाते. याचे कारण बुडीतातील अजून जादा जमीन भूसंपादित करावयाची राहिली आहे. ही बाब त्यांच्या निदर्शनास आली.  त्यांनी या विषयावर आठवडाभराचे आत मंत्रालयात बैठक घेऊन विषय निकाली काढण्याचे जाहीर केले होते.  दोन आठवड्यापेक्षा अधिक कालावधी उलटला आहे. परंतु याबाबत हालचाल जाहीर झालेली दिसत नाही. आता तर लोकसभा निवडणुकांचे वारे वाहू लागले आहेत. आठवडाभराच्या आत दिनांक 20 फेब्रुवारीपासून आचार संहिता  लागण्याची शक्यता आहे. एकदाची आचारसंहिता लागली, की कोणत्याही विकासाच्या प्रकल्पाबाबत निर्णय घेण्यासाठी प्रशासन व शासन हात वर करून मोकळे होते. त्यामुळे वीस तारखेच्या आत अक्कलपाडा धरणाच्या अतिरिक्त भूसंपादनाचा विषय निर्णय होऊन मार्गी लागला नाही तर, याबाबत अजून वर्ष सहा महिने निर्णय होऊ शकणार नाही. आणि तसे झाले तर, अक्कलपाडा धरणामध्ये पूर्ण क्षमतेने यावर्षी पावसाळ्यात किंवा पुढील वर्षाच्या पावसाळ्यात देखील पाणी भरणे शक्य होणार नाही. लाखो कोट्यवधींच्या किंमतीचे पावसाळ्यातील पुराचे पाणी पांझरेतून असेच फुकट वाहून जाण्याचे बघणे, धुळेकरांच्या नशिबी राहणार आहे. यासाठी धुळे शहर व जिल्ह्यातील राजकारणातील प्रस्थापित नेते व इच्छुक नेत्यांनी तातडीने  ना. अजितदादा पवार यांच्याकडे पाठपुरावा करणे आवश्यक झाले आहे. खरे म्हणजे आता जिल्हा प्रशासनाने देखील वेगवान हालचाली करण्याची गरज आहे. मात्र प्रशासन पातळीवर देखील सारीच सामसूम दिसते. या धरणाचे प्रचंड बुडित क्षेत्र आराखड्यात न दाखविणे ही घोडचूकच आहे. अक्कलपाडा धरण बांधण्याच्या आधी ज्या कुणी अभियंत्यांनी या धरणाचे आराखडे तयार केले, त्यांच्या बुद्धीची किंव केली पाहिजे. मात्र त्यांनी जाणून बुजुन हा उद्योग केला असेल, चांगल्या हेतूने हे केले असेल तर त्याचीही दखल घेतली पाहिजे. प्रारंभी या धरणाची मागणी आली तेव्हा  या धरणात पुरेसे पाणी येणार नाही, बुडितक्षेत्र जादा आहे, साईट नॅचरली फिजिबल नाही, अशा अनेक कुरापतींनी नोकरशाहीने  नकार  घंटा लावली होती.    धरण अन फिजिबल ठरू नये, या चांगल्या हेतूने त्यावेळी  त्यांनी मुद्दामहून चूक केली असेल, तर  त्यांच्या या भुमिकेचे स्वागतच केले पाहिजे. कारण त्यांनी मुद्दामहून धरणाचे बुडीत क्षेत्र कमी दाखवून त्यायोगे प्रकल्पाचा खर्च कमी दाखवून, हे धरण कसे योग्य आहे हे दाखविण्याचा  प्रयत्न केला असेल व त्यांच्या या  चलाखीचा  धरणास मंजुरी मिळविण्यासाठी उपयोग झाला असेल, तर ती गोष्ट धुळे तालुक्याच्या भल्यासाठी झाली. असे मानावे लागेल. अर्थात भूतकाळात जे काही झाले, ते झाले!  परंतु प्रथमच धरण शंभर टक्के भरण्यात आले. या वेळी धरणाच्या आधी संपादन केलेल्या जमिनीपेक्षा जवळपास शंभर कोटी रुपये नुकसान भरपाई द्यावी लागेल एवढी जादाची जमीन बुडीतात येत  असल्याचे लक्षात आले. पहिल्या वर्षी काही शेतकऱ्यांच्या शेतात बॅकवॉटर शिरले. त्याने पिकांचे नुकसानही झाले. परंतु अतिरिक्त शेतजमीन बुडीतात येत असल्याचे  अनेकांच्या लक्षात आले. अर्थात काही मंडळींना अतिरिक्त जमीन बुडीतात येणार आहे, ही बाब माहीत होती. त्यांनी आधीच स्वस्तामध्ये या पुढील  बडितातील जमिनी खरेदी करून ठेवल्या होत्या. यातील बऱ्याचशा मंडळींनी सर्वत्र जो प्रकार चालतो त्याप्रमाणे आंध्रातून मोठ-मोठी चार-पाच वर्षाची तयार फळ झाडे आणून लावून टाकली होती. जमिनीच्या उंच सखलपणामुळे ज्यांच्याजमिनीत बुडीताचे पाणी शिरत नव्हते, त्यांनी तर चक्क जेसीबी लावून चारी खणून आपल्या शेतामध्ये बुडीताचे पाणी कसे येईल, याची सोय करून घेतली. यामुळे झाले काय? बुडीतातील अतिरिक्त जमीन संपादन करावयाची म्हटल्यास नुकसान भरपाईचा खर्च जवळपास शंभर कोटीच्या वर गेला.  मंत्रालयातील प्रशासकीय अधिकाऱ्यांनी तर एवढा मोठा खर्च करण्यापेक्षा पावसाळ्यात पाटचारीने लहान मोठे बंधारे भरून घ्यावेत, असा पर्याय दिला.  यामुळे ही अतिरिक्त जमीन संपादनाची फाईल पडून राहिली. एवढ्या प्रचंड संघर्षातून बांधण्यात आलेल्या अक्कलपाडा धरणामध्ये तांत्रिक कारणाने केवळ पासष्ट टक्के पाणी भरले जावे, ही बाब सर्वसामान्य माणसाला पटणारी नाही. दरवर्षी पावसाळ्यात हे धरण भरून प्रचंड पाणी वाया जाते. त्यामुळे भूसंपादनाच्या विषयात काहीतरी मार्ग काढून हे धरण पूर्ण कसे भरले जाईल, हे बघितले जावे. हा विचार पुढे आला. त्यातूनच नामदार  अजित दादा पवार अक्कलपाडा येथे आले असता हा विषय त्यांच्याकडे मांडण्यात आला. त्यावेळी मागणी करताना, खासदार डॉक्टर सुभाष भामरे यांनी सांगितले होते, की आजच्या घडीला वाया जाणारे एवढेच पाणी असणारे नवीन धरण बांधायला सुमारे आठशे कोटी रुपयांचा खर्च येतो. अतिरिक्त भुसंपादनासाठी शंभर कोटी रुपये ही रक्कम फार मोठी नाही. यासाठी अतिरिक्त भूसंपादनाचा मार्ग तातडीने मोकळा केला पाहिजे. खासदार डॉक्टर सुभाष भामरे यांची ही मांडणी तार्किक आहे. यामुळे नामदार अजित दादा पवार यांनी देखील या विषयावर तातडीने मंत्रालयात मीटिंग लावण्याची इच्छा जाहीर केली होती. परंतु अद्यापही मीटिंग लागलेली नाही. आणि आचारसंहिता जाहीर होण्याचा काळ काही दिवसांवर आलेला आहे. अशा परिस्थितीत हा विषय तातडीचा समजून धुळ्यातील राजकीय नेते व प्रशासकीय अधिकाऱ्यांनी मंत्रालयाच्या संपर्कात राहून आचार संहिता लागण्याच्या आत या विषयावरील निर्णय करून घेणे गरजेचे आहे.  अन्यथा येता पावसाळा व त्या पुढील पावसाळा, दोन्ही पावसाळ्यात अक्कलपाडा धरण रिकामे ठेवून, पांझरेतून विनाकारण पाणी वाहून गेल्याचे बघणे, धुळे जिल्ह्यातील नागरिकांच्या नशिबी राहील !

मराठी वृत्तपत्र लेखक संघ मुंबई आणि मनसे विभागध्यक्ष यशवंत किल्लेदार यांच्या पार्थ फाउंडेशन मुंबईच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने २७ फेब्रुवारी रोजी कुसुमाग्रज तथा वि. वा. शिरवाडकर जन्मदिन आणि मराठी भाषा दिवस दरवर्षीप्रमाणे मान्यवर पाहुण्यांच्या उपस्थितीत धुरू हॉल, दादर सार्वजनिक वाचनालय येथे साजरा करण्यात येणार आहे. यावेळी ४९ व्या राज्यस्तरीय दिवाळी अंक स्पर्धेचे पारितोषिक वितरण होणार आहे.

यानिमित्ताने पार्थ फाउंडेशनच्या सहकार्याने मुबंईसह संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रातील वृत्तपत्र लेखक, निवृत्त व सध्या कार्यरत असलेले प्राध्यापक, शिक्षक, साहित्यिक, महाविद्यालयीन विद्यार्थी, मराठी भाषाप्रेमी यांच्यासाठी विनामूल्य 'मराठी भाषेची चिंता आणि चिंतन' या विषयावर या विषयावर स्व-बोलीभाषेत कुसुमाग्रज तथा कविवर्य वि वा शिरवाडकर यांना उद्देशून पत्रस्वरूपात राज्यस्तरीय लेख स्पर्धा 'आयोजित करण्यात आली असल्याची घोषणा संघाध्यक्ष रवींद्र मालुसरे यांनी केली आहे. कोणत्याही शाळेत शिक्षण घेणाऱ्या विद्यार्थ्याला किमान मातृभाषेत लिहिता वाचता यावं या संकल्पनेच वाटोळं करणारे एक धक्कादायक विदारक चित्र अहवालातून महाराष्ट्रात समोर आले आहे. ते म्हणजे - बारावीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना दुसरीच्या मुलांचे मराठी वाचता येईना ! त्यामुळे शिक्षण क्षेत्रात  खळबळ उडाली आहे.  कोसकोसावर बदलणाऱ्या महाराष्ट्रातल्या अनेक बोलीभाषांनी आपली मराठी भाषा समृद्ध झाली आहे.

 खेड्यापाड्यातली मराठी भाषा रांगडी अशुद्ध आणि अपभ्रंश असलेली असते, कशीही असो ती 'मराठी' च म्हणून मराठी माणसाला आवडते. मराठी भाषेची सद्यस्थिती आपापल्या बोलीभाषेत व्यक्त करून स्पर्धेत भाग घेणाऱ्यांनी ६०० शब्दात लेख लिहावा यावा अशी अपेक्षा आहे, पहिल्या ३ जणांना रोख पारितोषिक,सन्मानचिन्ह व प्रशस्तीपत्र व इतरांना सहभाग प्रमाणपत्र प्रदान करण्यात येतील.

 1046 - The weather turns especially cold throughout Europe. Monks note in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle that "no man alive...could remember so severe a winter." It is the first known record of the beginning of the 200 year period of exceptional cold, known as the "Little Ice Age."

1665 - British forces capture New Amsterdam, the centre of the Dutch colony in North America. The trading settlement on the island of Manhattan is to be renamed New York in honour of the Duke of York, its new governor.

 

 1795 - A prize of 12,000 francs was offered by the French government for a method of preserving food and transporting it to its armies. The winner was Nicholas Appert, a French chef who invented a way to can food. 

 

1869 - James Oliver invented the removable tempered steel plow blade.

 

1880 - The steamship SS Strathleven arrived in London with first successful shipment of frozen mutton from Australia. It had been chartered, fitted with air compression/expansion refrigeration equipment, and sent to Australia for a trial shipment of frozen carcasses. 

 

 1892 - The bottle cap with cork seal was patented by William Painter, Baltimore U.S. This  represented a major saving for the bottlers. (The cap was used until the 1970s, when cork in soft drink and beer bottle caps was considered unhealthy, so, manufacturers switched to cans and plastic, instead. Currently, caps used on bottles use plastic cap "liners", instead of cork).

 

1897 - A patent was issued for an ice-cream scoop invented by black American inventor, Alfred L. Cralle. His design of an "Ice-cream Mould and Disher" was made to be strong and durable, effective, inexpensive, able to keep ice cream and other foods from sticking and easy to operate with one hand.  The basic design is so efficient that it is seen still in use today.

 

1931 - 1st use of a rocket to deliver mail, Austria.

 

 1935 - The detective Leonard Keeler conducted the first use of his invention, the Keeler polygraph, or lie detector machine. Those examined were two criminals Cecil Loniello and Tony Grignano, who were convicted of assault at their trial where the results were introduced as evidence.

Reflections on Ayodhya 22 Jan 2024

WHAT HAPPENED 

    One day in October I got a phone call to ask if I would go to Ayodhya if invited. Not yet aware of the importance of the event having such an impact I casually said why not. At that time I honestly did not realise how and why I was among the ‘chosen few!’

    Next sequence of events happened only in Dec and Jan when many people took charge of all arrangements and even came home to deliver a beautiful card personally with the auspicious rice grains. All this raised my excitement but at the same time the news channels played spoilsport by politicising the whole event leaving me feeling a bit hesitant and confused having been a woman in uniform of the most secular armed forces.

    The day arrived and apprehensions melted with the excitement of being in person for a historical event.

REACHING AYODHYA

    Landing at the beautiful airport and being welcomed with a Chandan Tilak set the tone of what was in store. A number of Ex Chiefs of the three services were invited and the Dogra Regimental Centre opened its doors and heart to all Ex Armed Forces invitees. The warmth of an LO at the airport and reception by officers in the mess was in true spirit of the highest ethos we maintain and it felt so natural and homely to be back in an officers mess. 

    The first evening was spent driving around the newly resuscitated city of Ayodhya. Every house wore a festive look. Tons of flowers and lights festooned wide new roads. A new city had come alive and peeping old buildings and houses were seen behind a festive facade. The excitement was palpable as a sea of people walked on the roads with devotional songs being played on loudspeakers and intermittent cheer with Jai Shree Ram echoing from streets.

     The ghats were spruced up and new construction could be seen in bits and pieces all around. The sand sculptures were amazing and so were the performances going on along the bank and the city. There was no jostling nor any raised voices.

    People were moving along enjoying themselves as if in a world of their own. Selfies and pictures were being clicked all around. Marigold flowers and big silhouettes of Lord Ram were everywhere and balloons and archways festooned the roads. Inspite of hundreds of cars and thousands of people on roads surprisingly there were no impatient horns or heated arguments. People just moved along in peace and harmony. In the evening the DRC hosted a welcome dinner for all the Veterans with warmth and the hospitality extended by the gracious lady wives. Meeting so many Ex Chiefs was an honour and a pleasure.

THE RAM MANDIR PRAN PRATISHTAN

    22Jan dawned and I started by wishing Nikhil as it was his birthday and I thought it suspicious to pray for him at the Ram Mandir. After a good cup of coffee all the Ex Chiefs some with their lady wives, a couple other General officers and yours truly were escorted to the Mandir by a police pilot and our motorcade convoy of almost 20 cars! On reaching the temple finally I was awestruck with sheer magnificence of the beautiful piece of architecture that loomed large ahead. Couldn’t believe it was created in two years! “My heart lept up when I beheld the mandir in the sky!”  can try to describe my feelings. Devotional songs were heard by leading singers giving a live performance. There was an ocean of people all around but no jostling or pushing. White chairs in blocks which were pre allotted helped people find place to sit. Volunteers immediately served water and snack boxes. People were glued to the screen showing who’s who arriving or were clicking photographs while waiting for Hon’ble PM to arrive.

    Dot on time the PM was seen walking purposefully and stately holding gifts for Ramlalla with his usual confidence and dignity.

THE DARSHAN

    The final phase was trying to get Darshan. This was easier said than done. The systematic handling of crowds and the disciplined people ended here and then started the mass movement of the ocean of people vying to get in. Joining one such stream I got pushed forward and my height did not help me much in getting to see where so was heading!!! Finally we were inside and the intricate temple carving was awe inspiring. The statue soon came in sight and peace on the child’s face of Ramlalla was infectious. The crowd did not permit me to stand and pray peacefully so I stepped out and sat on the steps of a huge gold plated door. There was me praying for my family friends and my university. I thanked HIM for making me part of this celebration and wanted nothing more. There was a sense of great peace and contentment

प्रभू रामचंद्राचे अयोध्येत पुनरागमन - प्रसाद भि. देशपांडे

 शतकानुशतके काळाचा प्रवाह अव्याहत चालत असताना एखादाच असा क्षण येतो ज्या क्षणाला मानवी सभ्यतेच्या इतिहासात 'भाग्यवंत' असण्याचं कोंदण लाभतं. भूतकाळातल्या कित्येक पिढ्या आणि भविष्यातल्याही  कित्येक पिढ्यांनी हेवा करावा असा हा भाग्यवंत क्षण अनुभवण्याचे भाग्य मिळायला पूर्वसंचितच असायला पाहिजे. कोणत्याही हिंदू व्यक्तीच्या जन्मात असा क्षण येणं किती कठीण ! 

मला विचाराल तर जे क्षण 'अनुभवायला मिळाले असते तर.. ' असं मला वाटतं ते म्हणजे प्रत्यक्ष श्रीकृष्णाच्या मुखातून भगवद् गीता ऐकणे, छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांचा राज्याभिषेक याची देही याची डोळा पाहणे आणि तिसरा म्हणजे प्रभू रामचंद्राचे अयोध्येत पुनरागमन अनुभवणे.

असत्यावर सत्याचा विजय, अनीतीवर नीतीचा विजय या सनातन तत्वाचा उद्घोष करणारे हे क्षण…

सत्प्रवृत्तीवरच्या अखंड श्रद्धेच्या विजयाचे हे क्षण…

कर्मयोगाचे महत्त्व सांगणारे आणि पौरुषाला आवाहन करणारे हे क्षण…

येत्या २२ तारखेला असाच एक  ‘भाग्यवंत क्षण’ जगण्याचे 'भाग्य' तुम्हा-आम्हाला लाभते आहे. "जन्मोजन्मी आम्ही बहु पुण्य केले । म्हणोनि विठ्ठले कृपा केली ।।" जगतगुरु तुकोबाराय म्हणतात अगदी तशीच भावना आपल्या सर्वांच्या मनात आली तर ती नक्कीच योग्य आहे. 

परकीय आक्रमकांच्या जुलुमाच्या, धर्मांध विकृतीच्या खुणा म्हणजे राष्ट्रपुरुषाच्या अंगावरच्या भळभळत्या जखमाच. या जखमा कित्येक शतकांच्या कालावधीनंतरही आपण सहन करत होतो. कित्येक पिढ्या हा कलंक पुसण्यासाठी अनेकविध मार्गांनी झिजल्या. आपल्याकडून ती जखम भरली गेली नाही, तो कलंक पुसल्या गेला नाही तर तो संघर्षाचा वसा आपल्या पुढच्या पिढीला दिला गेला. त्या पिढीनेही आपले आयुष्य पणाला लाऊन तो वसा सांभाळला. 

ही, इतका प्रदीर्घ काळ संघर्षरत राहण्यामागची प्रेरणा कोणती होती बरे? असा प्रश्न कुणालाही नक्कीच पडू शकतो; पण त्याचे उत्तर मिळते ते अविचल, अडिग अशा श्रद्धेतून. 

'मंदिर वही बनाएंगे' हा केवळ एक नारा नव्हे तर तो एक अखंड तेवत राहणाऱ्या अस्मितेचा हुंकार आहे. एक स्फुल्लिंग आहे जे शतकोत्तरकालवर्षावातही धगधगते राहिले. २२ तारखेला प्राणप्रतिष्ठेच्या यज्ञाचा अग्नी प्रज्वलित होईल तो याच कालातीत स्फुल्लिंगाने. तो प्रज्वलित होताना पाहणे हे तुमचे माझे अहोभाग्यच ! आसेतूहिमाचलच नव्हे तर भारतीय उपखंडाचे प्रतिनिधीही ज्या रामराज्याभिषेकाला हजर राहिले होते, अगदी तसाच क्षण अनुभवण्याची संधी आता आपल्यासमोर आहे. 

अशावेळी कुठल्याही नकारात्मकतेला, वाद-विवादाला, आक्षेपाला साधे उत्तर देणे, त्याची दखलही घेणे म्हणजे प्रभूश्रीरामाच्या आगमनाकडे लागलेली आपली  इंद्रिये घाणीने बरबटून घेणे. या क्षुद्र विचारांना आपल्या मनात थारा देणे, उत्तर देणे, त्यांची नोंद घेणे म्हणजे त्या 'भाग्यवंत' क्षणाची शोभा स्वतःच्या हाताने घालवणे होय. या सर्वांवर मात करूनच तर हा क्षण अवतरतो आहे हे लक्षात घेऊया. आता काही काळ या सर्वांना बाजूला सारणेच योग्य. 

रामायणाचा संदेश आपण आपल्या मनावर कोरून घेतलेला आहेच. निर्णायक संघर्ष करणे आणि प्रखर निष्ठेच्या, समर्पणाच्या सहायाने विजय मिळवणे हे आपण रामायणातूनच शिकलो आहोत. आगामी काळातही ते आपल्याला करावे लागणारच आहे पण सध्या वेळ आहे ती एका स्वप्नपूर्तीचे दृश्य नजरेत भरून घेण्याची, त्याचे साक्षीदार होण्याची !

 

सध्या उत्पन्न झालेल्या आणि विघ्न आणू पाहणाऱ्या सर्व रावण सैन्यासाठी योग्य वेळी दुसरा कोदंडधारी हात आहेच की! प्रभू श्रीरामाच्या कृपेने त्याचाही उपयोग आपण करणारच आहोत. 

मित्रांनो, 

प्रभूश्रीराम अयोध्येत आले असताना जशी असेल, आज अयोध्यापुरी पुन्हा तशीच सजली आहे. सर्वत्र रामभक्तांचा उत्साह तसाच जाणवतो आहे. घरोघरी मंगलाक्षतांची रास प्रभूचरणी लीन होण्यासाठी अगदी तशीच आतूर आहे. 

'सिंघासन पर त्रिभुअन साई । देखि सुरन्ह दुदुंभी बजाई ।।' 

अशी घटिका आता अगदी जवळ येऊन ठेपली आहे. 

माऊली म्हणतात - 

“ तो पहावा हे डोहाळे । म्हणूनि अचक्षूसी मज डोळे ।

हातीचिये लीला कमळे । पुजू तयाते ।। 

असेच आपले मनही भावोत्कट झाले आहे. 

आता आपणा सर्वांना उत्कंठा लागली आहे ती या क्षणाची; जेव्हा सर्वत्र मंगल वाद्यांचा निनाद घुमावा, घरासोबतच मनेही सुशोभित व्हावीत, शतकांच्या वेदनेचे दुःख दूर होईल असा आनंद साजरा व्हावा. डोळ्यात प्राण आणून आपण तो मंगल क्षण पाहावा. ' प्रभू श्री रामचंद्र की जय' चा जयघोष कंठा-कंठातून यावा. 

तेव्हा आता मंगलवाद्ये वाजू द्या, 

दारासमोर रंगावली सजू द्या, 

तोरणांनी चौकटी शोभू द्या, 

घरा-घरातून शंखनाद घुमू द्या, 

दिवे-पणत्यांच्या रोषणाईत अवघा चराचर उजळून जाऊ द्या, 

आपल्यासहीत इतरांनाही मिष्टान्नाचे घास मिळू द्या, 

अवघे आसमंत दुमदुमुद्या.. 

एकमुखाने बोला..

थळसेना दिन कोंकण भवण सीबीडी बेलापूर येथे आज खूप हर्ष उत्साहात 15 जानेवारी 2024  ला अमर ज्योती स्तंभाला मानवंदना देऊन सुरूवात कऱण्यात आला. 

स्थळ : कोकण भवन प्रांगण, सीबीडी-बेलापूर, नवी मुंबई,

प्रमुख आकर्षण : आर्मी स्टेशन मुख्यालय, कुलाबा मुंबई यांच्या वतीने 'शस्त्र प्रदर्शन'. आसाम रेजिमेंट कडून प्रदर्शित करण्यात आले आहे.

रक्तदान शिबिर आयोजित करण्यात आले आहे.

मा.श्री. रमेश जैद, राज्यकर सह आयुक्त (अपील) कोंकण विभाग (से.नि.) तथा सदस्य, महाराष्ट्र विक्रिकर न्यायाधिकरण, मुंबई.

1656 - Chhatrapati Shivaji conquered Javali state.

1759 - The British Museum, in Bloomsbury, London, the world's oldest public national museum, opened to the public.    

1797 - The top hat was first worn in England by James Heatherington, a Strand haberdasher in London. An issue of the Times of that period records that when he left his shop with his extraordinary headwear, a crowd of onlookers assembled, which degenerated into a shoving match. Consequently, Heatherington was summoned to appear in court before the Lord Mayor and fined £50 for going about in a manner "calculated to frighten timid people." Within a month, he was overwhelmed with orders for the new top hats. 

1861 - The safety elevator was patented as a “Hoisting Apparatus” by the American inventor, Elisha G. Otis, New York. His invention was designed to arrest a fall in case of the lifting rope breaking.

 1863 - Four-wheeled roller skates were patented by James Plimpton of New York.

1885 – Dr. William West Grant performed what is believed (sources disagree) to be the first successful appendectomy in the U.S.  

1887 - Thomas Stevens, US, is 1st man to bicycle around the world.

1904 - Thomas Edison's movie crew filmed the electrocution of an elephant. Topsy was being destroyed by its owners after she killed three men in as many years. The event was a public spectacle to a paying audience of 1500 people at Coney Island, where the elephant had been kept on show. Edison was the consultant chosen to arrange the electrocution death after cyanide-laced carrots had failed. 

1912 - The closest approach to earth by the moon was 221,441 miles apart centre to centre.

1932 - British Viceroy of India Lord Willingdon arrests Gandhi & Nehru.

1948 - Burma achieved its independence from Great Britain. (In 1989, Burma changed its name to Myanmar to reflect the multi-ethnic composition of the country).

1958 - The Russian Sputnik I satellite, the first man-made object to orbit the earth, fell back into the atmosphere and disintegrated, after 92 days in space. The Sputnik (meaning “companion” or “fellow traveller”) circled the earth every 95 minutes at almost 20,000 miles per hour, 500 miles above the Earth. The 184-lb satellite had transmitted a radio signal picked up around the world, and instrumentation for temperature measurement.

1962 - The first fully automated subway train began revenue service with passengers in New York City. 

1966 - Indo-Pak Summit, the peace talk between Pakistan and Indian leaders, started at Tashkent. The prominent personalities were Lal Bahadur Shastri and Gen. Ayub Khan.

1967 - Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. began delivery of the MIG aircraft.

1972 - Pakistan proposed to talk after the (1971) war.

 2004 - Spirit, a robot rover landed on Mars to analyze the planet's rocks, looking for evidence of water. It has taken the only photo of Earth from another planet.  1871 - Oleomargarine was patented by Henry Bradley in Binghamton, NY. A "compound for culinary use" called margarine. 

1888 - The first wax drinking straw and the spiral winding tube-making process was patented by Marvin C. Stone in Washington, DC. Stone was already a manufacturer of paper cigarette holders.

1947 - Gandhiji toured the riot-affected areas in Bihar from January 3 to January 29.

1754 - Robert Clive again attacked and annexed Calcutta from Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah. (Calcutta was recaptured by Siraj-ud-Daulah in June 1756. Reportedly, they  placed 146 British prisoners into a room measuring 18 by 15 feet, called the 'Black Hole', with only 23 surviving the night).  

1757 - After the Battle of Plassey, Robert Clive defeated Siraj-ud-Daulah, Mir Jafar, Nawab of Bengal and re-captured Calcutta, after it had been seized by the Nawab of Bengal. 

 1839 - French pioneering photographer Louis Daguerre took the first photograph of the moon. Unfortunately it was lost when on 8 Mar 1839, a fire burned his laboratory, together with his records and early experiment materials.
