Dear Friends,
After more than a week, our landlines were restored today along with Internet. Thank God. For many Chennaiites, last few days would be the worst days of their lives as we hear the dreadful horror stories.
These floods brought out The Best and worst in people. First 'The Best'. Helping-Sharing-Caring- Giving are qualities we have been advocating all through, also in our Books. These qualities were personified during the floods. Everyone looked to help someone in whatever way they could which led one Army officer who was directing the relief work, to comment that there were more rescuers than people to be rescued. But for this spirit of most Chennaiites, many people could not have survived the Deluge. With folded hands and untold Gratitude, we express our Thanks to all our well-wishers who helped us, prayed for us and enquired about our welfare. It is because of your prayers, we have had respite from rain for last four days. Though only expressing 'Thanks' does not adequately express our Gratitude, still Thank you very much.
Coming to the worst side, you must have read enough in papers, TV channels and Whats App etc. about them. That came mostly from our political masters who control everything in administration and agencies who could have helped. Their greed for votes was seen to be believed. Even at the worst of human suffering, they were only interested in Photo Aps, TV cameras and putting stickers on every packet which went from people to people as relief. In the worst of hours, they used their muscle power, abusive language and clout with police to obstruct the relief work. However, general Goodness prevailed.

Even when the worst was going on, ordinary Chennai folk was undeterred and has resumed his duties and building life. Floods removed all class, religion and caste barriers. Why can't we live that way? Selfless spirit generated by floods must become foremost in our mind. That is the only way we can survive with pride.
We must learn two Important lessons from Chennai-The Deluge. Firstly, Money is important in life but RELATIONSHIPS are more Important. So maintain good relationship with everyone you can - Neighbours, Relations, Friends and even strangers. Always try to help and share. You never know when you will need others' help. Then remain in touch. Never let ego or arrogance overtake you. Be polite, a person of humility.
Our Grateful Thanks and Regards to you All. Whatever it may be, Yes Together We Can.
