Eight SSB jawans injured in terror attack at Zakura

Zakura (Jamamu and Kashmir): At least eight Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) soldiers were injured today in a terrorists attack near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp at Zakura in Srinagar.

“8 SSB jawans injured, 3-4 are critically injured. Search operation is now underway,” IG SSB, Deepak Kumar said.

"The jawans were injured in terrorists attack near CRPF camp in Zakura, while they were returning from duty," said SSB Inspector General Deepak Kumar.

Three companies of SSB were returning after patrolling in six trucks, where the convoy was attack by militants at Zakura on the outskirts of Srinagar along the road to Ladakh.

The SSB men retaliated by returning fire but the militants reportedly fled from the scene, Kumar added.

Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF and SSB reinforcements reached the spot and laid siege to a vast area to start searches.

Injured soldiers have been admitted to a hospital and the combing operation is underway.
