One rank one pension: 16 lakh pension accounts of retd defence personnel revised

Projects, including pensioners’ portal and toll free call centre implemented.

Over 16 lakh pension accounts of retired defence personnel have been revised as per the notification of One Rank One Pension, said Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pensions), Allahabad G D Pungle Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion of inauguration 139th Defence Pension Adalat in Pune, Pungle highlighted that various projects were being implemented for providing improved services to the pensioners. Among others, he spoke about pensioners’ portal and pension call centre toll free number 1800-180-5325.
After the latest notification of the OROP, as many as 16 lakh pension accounts of the defence pensioners have been revised, he said, adding a dedicated team of military and CDA officials were working hard to resolve issues of remaining accounts.
After inaugurating the event, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command Lt General Bipin Rawat, paid tribute to service rendered by ex-servicemen during their active years. He lauded various efforts being made by PCDA(P), particularly the initiative of e-Pension Adalat.
Speaking on the initiative taken by AG Branch in order to redress pensioner’s issues, Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma, Adjutant General, appreciated the efforts of defence accounts department in faster implementation of OROP.
He also appealed to all pensioners to register their Aadhaar numbers and mobile numbers with their pension disbursement agency. This would facilitate banks to inform the details of pension being paid by the agency, he added.
The adalat which was organised by the officer PCDA(Pensions), Allahabad under the aegis of the Controller General of Defence Accounts, New Delhi in consultation with the Ministry of Defence, received over 900 cases on the first day, most being related to pensioners queries regarding correctness of the pension payment being received by them.
The initiative has been organised for the redressal of grievances of defence pensioners, including defence civilians residing in the state of Maharashtra.
The programme will also continue Friday in the Dhanvantri Auditorium, of the Armed Forces Medical College.
Several senior military and defence sector officials pressent on the occasion also included Lt Gen A K Nagpal, Commandant, AFMC, Sham Lal Goyal, Principal Secretary, government of Maharashtra, M A Lincoln, PCDA(Officers), Avinash Dixit, PCDA(Southern Command), K Damayanti, Joint Secretary (Ex-Servicemen Welfare), MoD, Suchindra Misra, IFA (SC), Richa Misra, CDA (Training) and Col Suhas Jatkar (Retd), Director Sainik Welfare, Maharashtra.
Good news
Announcing a good news for the gallantry award winners in the state, Goyal stated that the state government has waived house tax in for gallantry award winners. He also stated that the government is committed for welfare of the ex-servicemen and whenever any suggestion will come in this regard, the government will positively consider it.
