Dear Veterans
These kind of negotiations are very tough negotiations. Both parties and specially Govt will employ all tactics to push us back from our stated stand. Govt negotiators will even threaten and use force to discredit the agitation. You all know that an attempt was made on 14 Aug on the name of security for Independence day to uproot agitators from JM. This attempt was foiled by our brave ESM who were present there. The situation was handled with deftness and a situation which could have exploded was saved by careful handling. I do not think Govt will try this again. Police has expressed regret on this event.
Planting stories is another method used by the Govt to change opinion. Couple of articles appearing in the Newspapers against OROP are prompted on the briefing by Fin Min bureaucrats. Friends atmosphere is now conducive to OROP. Almost all Indians are aware of implications of OROP and are convinced that Armed Forces personnel have been short changed in last 40 years. This is time to make a kill.
Decisions are taken at JM keeping in view sentiments of large majority of ESM. It is well nigh impossible that 100% population will approve of any decision taken. Most of ESM has approved the decision of boycott call given by the UFESM. This is the most effective tool and is probably most embarrassing for Govt. Some ESM are suggesting that ESM should not embarrass the Govt, We at JM do not agree with this theory. This thinking of being true nationalist has caused us drastic down-gradations. And the bureaucrats who are supposed to make policies to uplift the country are not worried about the country and its security. We are nationalist and true Indian but in the case of OROP there will be no compromise and boycott is part of escalation and will be observed meticulously.
It is not wise to give news update on hear say. UFESM cannot issue news update unless some concrete proposals come. Newspapers and media pick up some rumours and make it a breaking news. Yes I agree this confuses ESM on country side. I will be issuing updates at regular interval to keep our brothers informed.
Another issue which is important here is that sometimes discussions take place which are not official and not coordinated. These meetings can not be discussed in open.
Some people who had been meeting Defence Minister alone, without any one, are now advising that the delegation should consist of many ESM. These are the ESM, who do not wish well of ESM, attempt to plant doubts in the mind of ESM to create fissures of division. We should all be aware of such advisers and their advises.
UFESM believes in taking all together and will follow this policy. Whenever there are structured discussions we will take a delegation representing all.
At last I request.
- Pl do not propagate your personal opinion as opinion of all on the internet. But that does not mean that you have to agree to all decisions taken by UFESM. If you wish to discuss I suggest that this should be done at one to one on personal mails.
- Please do not believe on planted stories and feel free to check with undersigned.
- We did mention that we will go slow on escalation but some ESM were so charged up by apathy of Govt officials that they forcibly sat on FUD. We had to honour their decision. They did not go against the UFESM decision but forced it early. This has sent a right signal that ESM are very charged and may not listen to organizers if the Govt will continue show disregard to our demands
