INDEFINITE RELAY HUNGER STRIKE IN HYDERABAD TO EXPRESS SOLIDARITY WITH OUR BRETHERN AT JANTAR MANTAR
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
In a meeting of Ex-Servicemen today, 28 Aug 2015, Friday, a suggestion was made that veterans in Hyderabad & Secunderabad and neighboring districts like Medak, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad and Mahbubnagar etc organise a Relay Hunger strike in Hyderabad to express our solidarity with our brothers and sisters who are in Jantar Mantar, Delhi and other places fighting for One Rank One Pension (OROP) since 15 Jun 2015.
The pros and cons of Relay Hunger Strike (RHS) were discussed at great length. As per our democratic principles, the suggestion was put to vote and all veterans unanimously decided to go on Relay Hunger Strike (RHS) at Hyderabad. Thereafter, nitty gritties of RHS such venue, publicity, administrative arrangements, sanction from GHMC and Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad etc were discussed. Responsibilities for various tasks involved were identified and volunteers were selected to undertake those tasks.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Any Veterans' activity undertaken in Hyderabad so far became hugely successful due to your active participation. I request all of you to support all those who shall take part in RHS. I am giving few details for benefit of all:-
- Venue - Indira Park, Hyderabad (venue meant for Dharnas etc)
- Date - 01 Sep 2015 till Implementation of OROP.
- Time - from 0800 hrs to 1800 hrs daily.
- Number of veterans to take part in RHS - Five per day
- Supporters - All other veterans both ladies and gentlemen and single ladies of deceased veterans.
- Publicity - All TV Channels and daily news papers shall be approached to give extensive publicity for RHS.
- Administrative Arrangements. Stage for hunger strikers, shamiana for supporters, water arrangements, OROP T-Shirts and OROP cap shall be arranged.
We therefore request each and every veteran in twin cities and nearby areas mentioned above to kindly support this initiative.
We need funds to organise an event of this nature. Those kind hearted veterans who want to donate any money for this RHS are requested to send your contribution to our account no: 35088276014 of SBI, Bhaskar Rao Nagar, Near Sainikpuri, Secunderabad by depositing any amount from Rs 10 and above in any branch of SBI or send your donations on line. But kindly intimate the same to me and to Lt Col G Parvathesam (9490941822;majgp@yahoo.com) by e-mail or by SMS so that we can account for your donations properly.
All veterans residing in other districts of A.P and Telangana are also requested to come to Indira Park, Hyderabad to cheer us up if possible or support us by sending your donations even as tiny as Rs 10 by depositing in any SBI branch nearest to your place of residence.
Every day we propose to have 5 veterans on RHS from 0800 hrs to 1800 hrs. So we need volunteers to undertake RHS (only once). So kindly give me your choice of dates and willingness to undertake RHS.
The RHS is a collective action not restricted to any one ESM Association. All ESM Associations are requested to bury your differences if any and come together under one platform to tell the civilians in Telugu Speaking States of A.P and Telangana that veterans here do not lag behind any one in our just struggle for OROP.
I request each one of you to act as a messenger of Relay Hunger Strike and disseminate through SMS, e-mail and talk in mobile to all your veteran friends in A.P and Telangana.
Let us see you all in huge numbers in Indira Park on 01 Sep 2015 from 0800 hrs onwards.
Your suggestions for RHS are most welcome and shall be gratefully acknowledged. Your suggestions shall be acted upon if feasible.
I humbly request some ladies also to undertake RHS so that it does not become a male dominated event.
